Short Handle Horn Scoop

Short Handle Horn Scoop

This short-handled horn scoop from Powered by People is the perfect tool to accurately portion out your preferred loose leaf tea, enhancing your daily steeping ritual. This unique, hand-crafted accessory is sustainably made from the horns of the Ankole-Watusi, or Ankole Longhorn, a breed of cattle native to western Uganda and parts of East Africa. These distinctive horns are a recycled byproduct of the food industry and are purchased directly from the cattle keepers, providing revenue for local cattle-keeping communities. The horn is then meticulously hand-carved and polished according to maadili designs by a small-scale artisan community, resulting in a beautiful piece for savoring the aroma and notes of your favorite infusion.

Sustainably sourced from rural ugandan cattle keepers, the horn is utilized and upcycled instead of discarded. Each scoop is hand-carved in a small-scale, fair trade artisan cooperative in uganda. The high variability of horn color ensures that no two pieces are exactly alike, with pieces coming in assorted color tones ranging from shades of white to brown to black. This piece is handmade in uganda and measures approximately 4.5" x 1". Hand wash only.
